Volleyball Court One of the projects that had the most enthusiasm was when I brought the children together to build a volleyball court. We took an area that was just filled with rubble and weeds and turned it into something that the kids could use to play in every day.
We had a truck load of sand that was suppose to be used to make bricks, but it turned out to be too salty so instead of letting it go to waist, we spread it out and created a nice deep sand pit for playing in.
Building the net
We planted banana trees all around the sides to provide shade and grass along one edge to create an out of bounds. There is a small raised bed with vegetables under the bananas to give the kids a place to sit in the shade while playing.
Before ~ Area filled with weeds and rubble
After ~ Kids playing in Volleyball court.
Everyone of all ages loved playing in the new volleyball court. The kids would play every day, both before and after school. When there was no school... they hardly left the area at all. They loved it.
